About the Artists Bob’s View Karen’s View |
Rock and a Soft Place Studio (“RASP”)
arose from a desire to take a single idea and use two different
artistic approaches to represent that idea in stone and fiber. While each piece is as individual as the
artist, when the pieces are viewed together the underlying theme that serves as
the starting point shines through.
We start the process by discussing
themes that interest us, eventually agreeing on one or more candidate ideas.
After the selection process, we work independently to express the idea in our
respective areas of expertise. Shown on
this page is a recent project: “Night Sky”.
The “Night Sky” can be seen in the moon and star carved in a piece of
granite found
during excavation for the studio workshop. “Night Sky” in fiber is an abstract form
that reveals the approach of night as the sky moves from twilight to dusk to
midnight with billions of stars illuminating the sky.
Please visit Joint Projects to see other works that show there’s more than one way to view the world in stone and fiber.
